Music for airplanes.
Made with a variety of samples and textured effects, the tracks were primarily mixed on flight from Portland to Los Angeles and back again. The idea is to recreate the sights and experiences one can achieve while soaring above the earth. Throw on your headphones, open your mind and soak in the sounds of the airstream. You have now reached cruising altitude.
Opaline is the experimental music and art moniker of Portland transplant, Hunter P. Thompson. Each track represents a new environment and idea with no restraints placed on the creative process. Samples, loops, synths and field recordings are spread across vast soundscapes that hint at a unique sci-fi affection and a persistent nostalgia for lost electronica. Ambient movements that cross the boundaries between drone and cinematic structure. Vision through sound. Texture through color.
